The Last Words of Print
During the past century, journalism was a strong, stable profession. The print paper ruled the world of reporting and news, and most people read whatever landed on their doorstep in the morning. But with the advent of internet and online news, what will happen to newspapers?

Opinion Pieces!
So we've still got some edits to make on our opinion pieces (the first of our magazine pieces), so we aren't posting those today, but below you can see some teasers of what's to come! When we've got them finalized we'll put them up, likely November.

The Case for Nukes
Wikipedia-The New Frontier
In the early days of the web, people searched for tidbits of research in pages and pages of useless information. Now, we have Wikipedia, a streamlined internet encyclopedia with information and articles on every subject you can think of. But has it really improved our lives? You bet. Stay tuned for the article, which is coming soon on this blog.

We're Starting, Slowly
Okay, it's been a while since the last post, and a lot has happened. We've met with a professional designer who has given us great advice on our magazine.
Today, we are just finishing up our opinion pieces, our first writing pieces of the semester. We've written some satires--on text messaging and Wikipedia--and some serious commentaries on nuclear power and electronic textbooks. Some of them will be up as soon as we've finished editing them.
On the design front, I could bore you on the specifics, but here are some of the general trends in the magazine:
1. The color scheme will be black and white with accent colors of blue, green, dark pink, and orange/yellow.
2. Magazine sections will be indicated by a change in the color of the folio.
3. We will have all of our article layouts based on a layout in our inspiration magazine, Wired.
We'll post again soon! This magazine is going to be awesome!

About Us
Hi! We are four high school students setting out on an exciting journey through journalism, design, and blogging! Our goal: write and design a magazine in one semester. The theme: technology and its impact on human life. We plan to look deeper into social networking systems like Facebook, plagiarism and schoolwork, the changes that printed newspapers are experiencing due to the Internet, the radical changes medical technology has made in people's lives, and much more. So far, we haven't gotten too far, but we'll update the blog when we start writing stories and designing!
